The Standards Behind the Work

Core values should not exist because a company thinks it needs words on a wall. They should describe how decisions are made when nobody is watching, how work is handled when something goes wrong, and what standards remain in place when taking shortcuts would be easier.

At THE FLYING LIZARD, our values come from aviation, curiosity, accountability, and respect for the people who rely on the information we deliver.

Integrity means telling the truth about the work. That includes being honest about what the data supports, what it does not support, what level of accuracy was achieved, and where limitations exist. Trust is not created by making the work sound more certain than it is. It is created by being clear about what is known.

​

Discipline comes from aviation. Preparation matters. Mission planning, airspace, weather, aircraft condition, site hazards, procedures, and changing conditions all deserve attention before and during every operation. We do not treat discipline as a constraint. It is what allows good work to happen consistently.

Respect means listening before recommending. Clients understand their projects better than we do, and subject-matter experts bring knowledge that aerial data cannot replace. Our responsibility is to understand the need, respect the expertise around us, and provide information that supports the people responsible for making decisions.

Curiosity means asking better questions. What are we trying to understand? What could we be missing? Is there a better way to collect the information? Does the deliverable actually answer the question? Curiosity is not about adding complexity. It is about refusing to accept an easy answer when a better one is possible.

Accountability means taking responsibility for our part of the mission. If something does not look right, we investigate it. If the data does not support a conclusion, we say so. If the mission needs to be redesigned, reprocessed, or flown again, we address the problem rather than hiding it behind presentation.

​

Purpose means using technology for a reason. We do not fly simply because we can, and we do not produce deliverables simply because software can generate them. We design the mission around what needs to be understood, documented, measured, compared, or preserved.

Those values guide how we plan, fly, process, communicate, and deliver.

They are not slogans.
